-You have finished you’re record, right?

-Yeah, what’s the date today? 22nd or something? I have 7 days to completely finish it but it’s pretty much done. We have the single “Feel so real” coming out december the 3rd with a video for that. 

-Is  “Feel so real”  “Chrome Lion” with samples?

-“Feel so real”  was the original version of “Chrome Lion” but i couldn’t get the vocal samples clear form the record label and i didn’t think i was able to get it so i made an instrumental song, then eventually the gave the permission so i decided finally to put it out.

-What will be the label of the album?

Will be out on 3b record in Uk and on Ultra record in Us.

-How come the transaction from your past hardcore/8bit style to this new one? Is the result of sound researches? i guess you work mainly with softwares more than hardware synths.

-Sure, when i first start i was 16 years old and i suppose that i didn’t know much about electronic music and music in general. I was looking to people doing videogame music and thought was very cool and i just decided to make it. then i got tired of it and with my original record label ministry of sound never really worked out with them. I disappeared for 8 months writing songs and figure out a new distinct sound.

I suppose i was on tumblr and i saw all this kind of images becoming more more popular and that was eventually what ended up making seapunk, and it was like 90’s rave music and italian house music with 90’s rave visuals. 

I put toghter that “Tidal Rave” ep and at the same time Coral Records started to put out their records as well.

-You didn’t on purpose but now many people consider “Boys of paradise” song&video the year zero of seapunk.

-I did the video of BOP times before to know all about.

-Actually i find you more near to the scottish scene of Luckyme label for example (Rustie, Hudmo, S-type).

-Yeah for sure, i love those guys and I love luckyme family.

-Do you keep in contact with them?

Yeah, i know Dominc who also runs a label and i spoke with Rustie sharing tracks and i think what they’re doing is very cool. I don’t like to talk about seapunk either and it’s a shame because of the internet the life of it was like very very short, you know about the Rihanna thing and now it’s become mainstream very quickly. I think that guys shouldn’t try to make seapunk because is only and imaginary.

-Tell me something about your love from Japan, and how influence you the country in general.

I think that especially even now, japan always been the head of technology and is one of the fastest growing economy, probably the next superpower in the world. Asia in general will overtake america. i suppose i like how futuristic japanese things seem, the desing even in the subway is very slick, very clean.

Even the pop music, do you know groups like Perfume?

-Yeah! “Perfect star, perfect style” ….

-Yeah absolutely. 

-There are some cheesy songs from them but also very good songs.

-Obsolutely. I like only certain things of japan, not the cheesy and cute things, but only the cool and futuristic part. There are radlounge shops in japan that sell seapunk cds, and that’s is strange because they buy european stuff based on japan futuristic style.  

-have you ever been to japan?

-no..i’m dying to go there. I hope in the summer festivals. But it’s still surprise me how people is interested in my music music and come down to see me outside the uk. Here in milan, this club is awesome, and you can’t find a place like this in uk. 

-I know that you’re very attracted by pop music, the perfection and the difficult of writing a chart hit song. Is the haim of the album to enter in the charts or to make a sort of revolution in the underground dance music?

-I can speak about Uk, the field i known, because in america to enter in the popular music is very difficult. In the uk i suppose that my haim is to enter the chart, it’s my challenge bacaue i think it’s very difficult to reach a large scale. But at the same time to be successful you have to bring new things to the table without copy. I really like my album, most of the tracks are very similar to “tidal rave ep”, some of them are trancy, some are house, but clearly to reach most people i can. I would like to have success with this work so i can dedicate me to a side project of sad slow emotional trance music, something where i don’t have to worry about radio plays
