Giraffage is one of the artists we love most, a guy that makes music for pure passion and his goal is to tour the world to share it with people. We had the chance to host him for the SEA PUNK GANG party in Milan with xxyyxx and it was memorable.
The new album “Needs” came out yesterday, the follow-up of the 2011’s “Comfort”, and as the predecessor is totally free.
From the previous work, Giraffage makes an incredible step forward and nobody can talk about chillwave anymore.
You’ll be impressed for the magnificent work with vocal samples of the artist, taking pieces of 80’s and 90’s soul and pop music with an unique elegance.
The opening track “Close to me” is one of the highest moment, of the record, liquid bass song with crazy crunk hit-hat and snares with a sudden slow down.
“Thinking about you” is also one of the most loved song, a sad-core tune with pitched down vocals, taking inspiration from the swedish and danish electronic school of the moment.
“Money” is dancefloor filler, hip-hop beats with dreamy pad breaks for space dancers ♥. With “Home” let’s go back to the second half of the 80’ : Giraffage composed a retro-futuristic tune for an afternoon television show and also here uses efficacious tempo change.
The liquid bass beats with 80’s vibes characterize also “Checkmate” and “Before”, whereas “Undress u” is the only episode similar to the Giraffage of the first album.
Charlie Yin made a superb effort, a contemporary electronic expression at the highest level settling him as one of the most talented Us producers.
