This is a review by a fan that tries to convince you that The Presets, at their third album, are one of the most relevant band in the electronic music in the world today. A fundamental upgrade has been made from the previous records “Beams”, the indie dance phase, and “Apocalypso”, the mainstream breakthrough both in Australia and England: “Pacifica” is a definitive collection of the electronic music that touched the band touring all over the world in the past 3 years. There’s a variety of styles and sonorities that can be identified each one in a city scene, especially euro cities scene, merged togheter with the typical presets ingredients: the emotional voice of Julian Hamilton, and the distorted unexpected techno rave riffs. The opening track, “Youth in trouble” is a minimal techno anxious track that seems to fit perfect in an underground club of Berlin, the first single “Ghost”, is a extraordinary downtempo track and “Promises” is one of the best song on the album and of the 2012, when synthpop can still astonish you and outclass the French. Other highlights of the album is the song “Fall”, ravy and romantic at the same time, and when a song makes you dance and fell in love at the same time is one of greatest thing that could happen.Another mention also for the 6 minutes madness of “A.O”.
