REVIEW ➮➫➬➭ TNGHT
STARRING ➮➫➬➭ LUNICE x Hudson Mohawke
Tnght ep by Lunice and Hudson Mohawke, 2 of the great trio of the bass/crunk world scene (the third is Rustie of course), is finally out on warp records. This was with out a doubt one of the most awaited record of the 2012, high expectations, the final result is even better. The duo toured a lot the US in the past 2 year to test every single beat on the record and the intention was to make tunes for a parallel dancefloor, between the space and the sea to dance to like never before, in a different way. The purpose is to define canons and assembly togheter the elements of the raising soundcloud scene of underground dance music made of trap, bass, seapunk, juke and hiphop elements often caractised by fresh ideas but without a solid production. They did it in the best way possible in this world.
“Goooo” introduce you to the mood of the record, 8bit lead with a massive rave saw that set the angst of this tunes.
“Higher ground” is already a hit, with a frenetic clap and looped vocals that take the tension at the highest level when the drop comes in with a “diploish” trombone.
With “Bugg’n” we enter in the liquid world, a dark deep atmosphere, bubble madness dissolved into the most wet reverb.
“Easy easy” as a friend of mine says, you can’t really understand it if you had never take part of a mugging, the best brostep out there.
This ep is experimental but unpretentious, 3-minutes acessible&irresistible pop structured songs by bedroom masters. I bet it will be straight in the top 3 year end list.
