REVIEW ➮➬➬ MAGIC HOUR
STARRING ➮➬➬ SCISSOR SISTERS
THE BEST GAY BAND IN CAPS LOCK finally released their fourth album after the magnificent “Night work”, a collection of underground dance music, “underground” also in the sales. It’s difficult for me to approach to a new scissor album because the are are one of my favourite out there. The comeback is solar, positive and romantic and the difference starts from the artwork with zebras in an epic landscape. The band teamed up with the top producers in the dance music today (ridha aka boys noize, calvin harris, stuart price aka les rhytmes digitales, pharell) and the intent is to comeback louder than ever. The opening track “Baby come home” is the classic scissor sound , a funky perfect pop song with Electric Light orchestra style verses. “Keep your shoes on” is the first dancefloor filler of the album and OMG it’s like azealia banks having sex with freddy mercury if we was straight. The romantic “inevitable” prepares you to “Only the horses” the BOMB, the epic tune and chart climber that you’ll ne dancing to all the summer. Skip track 5 and here it is THE TROPICAL TRIADE “Let’s have a kiki” / “Shady love” / “San louis obispo” : the sound we love with tribal percussions, moombah drops, addictig flows…awesome. The rhythm never slows down. Other higlights of the album are the synth pop of “Somewhere” (reminds me of the Sound Of Arrows) and the closing track “Fuck Yeah”, classy tribal house. This work is quite different from all the previous works of the band, an attempt to play a leading role in the pop music and the result is a extremey high quality compromise full of summer vibes we like.
